I'm a contributing editor with Mother Earth News, and author of numerous books including my latest, The Complete Compost Gardening Guide. I often give talks, and would be willing to do one at Earth Day Floyd gratis if you need to fill your schedule. See my website for details. You can call me at 745-8310.

We will bring to this discussion such phrases as "Restorative Forestry", "Carbon Positive Forestry" and "Ecological Capitalism". Come hear what these phrases mean to us and how we practice them in our communities daily. This work protects the water quality, by being sensitive to the natural world. Also you may come see, pet, and meet our Suffolk Draft horses that are our partners as we live the life of being tree gardeners. Some Biological Woodsmen of Healing Harvest Forestry Coalition will be there also. See you on Earth Day in Floyd...

I look forward to serious discussions of the impact of current climate changes and population growth on our water resources, and practical solutions for conservation.

We would like to have an area outside that is accessible to electricity for showing DVD's. We would like to be included in any panel discussions available as we know that the county is mostly forested and this makes the management of the forest the greatest single influence on the quality of water on the plateau. We have often said that the most valuable product to come from the forest is the water, not logs. If you don't believe this just buy a bottle of water and compare it to the cost of gasoline and you will find that you are already paying more for water than fossil fuel. We practice restorative forestry that keeps the forest intact while addressing human needs for forest products, thus our mission statement: To address human needs for forest products while creating a nurturing coexistence between the forest and human community. Please stop by and see us and learn more about our community service agency and "treeroots" movement.
